To say Brahms was influenced by Chopin is to say too little!
It's unmistakable - he wrote his Scherzo op 4 under the spell of Chopin's namesake pieces. The spell he couldn't quite shake off.
But we got to go easy on Brahms - this was his first " official" composition ( with opus number) and he was only 18 years old 😉 in 1851 when he wrote this Scherzo, 10 years after Chopin finished all four of his.
I deliberately mixed a few fragments of Chopin and Brahms Scherzi together, let's see if you can spot them.
