Martin improvises on the PianoOrgan, a new instrument created by Martin! The PianoOrgan is a combination of an acoustic piano and an electronic keyboard! The PianoOrgan overcomes the acoustic limitations of an acoustic piano. On an acoustic piano, when one plays and holds down a piano key, no matter how hard the key is played, the created sound is sure to eventually fade and disappear.

On the PianoOrgan, when one plays and holds down a key on the electronic keyboard, the created sound is sustained, and doesn’t fade and disappear!* Also, the velocity-sensitive electronic keyboard allows for organ sounds at varying volumes. In contrast, a traditional pipe organ, for example, doesn’t have velocity-sensitive keys.

The velocity-sensitive keys on the PianoOrgan enable the performer to explore and discover new sonorities and textures! Behold, the PianoOrgan!

*as long as power to the electronic keyboard is maintained and the electronic keyboard doesn’t degrade in quality.
