It's been a while, everyone. I have been catching up my backlog of anime series in the past few weeks and Kimetsu no Yaiba (or Demon Slayer) has been on my watch list for the longest of time.
I have to admit that while I am still not a fan of the Opening song Gurenge by LiSA, I do love the insert song played in that fantastic scene in episode 19, known as Kamado Tanjiro no Uta.

However, I was taken aback upon hearing the full version. The song is unusually long, there are many repetitive elements and finding a good balance between the two contrasting themes in minor and major key is quite difficult to pull off on the piano.
I tried to find suitable variations for the chorus repetitions, but I simply couldn't come up with a good alternative. That's why I decided to change a little bit the song structure.

By omitting the second verse and adding a new ending part after the final chorus, I have kept the overall length of the song while at the same time, it also manages to avoid being too repetitive. Furthermore, I feel like the chorus of the original song is ending a little too abruptly. All the buildup in the 5 minutes is released in an instant - and then nothing else is following up. I kinda wish there would be at least some kind of an epilogue left, after all the buildup (or perhaps I am just too used to "book ends" elements in music).
Ultimately, my goal for every single one of my piano arrangements is to find a good balance between tension and releases, in order to create a "natural" flow of music. I hope I managed to pull it of this time.

Well then, I'll continue watching more Anime I have missed out and I'll make arrangements of whichever song is catching my attention.
