Martin Leung biography

“A brilliant pianist” (The Times of London), Martin Leung is widely recognized as a classical pianist and as an influential performer in the introduction and development of video game soundtracks as a performing art. Since 2004 his work has transformed countless listeners into performers worldwide and "started a very interesting internet phenomenon" (Project Coe). He has performed as soloist and on concert series and education programs on 5 continents. He has soloed with Academic Orchestra Leipzig, Canada's Saskatoon, Regina, and Sudbury symphonies, the Pittsburgh Symphony and others, working with Horst Förster, Victor Sawa, Lucas Richman, Arthur B. Rubinstein, Carl St. Clair, Tito Muñoz, and Peter Fournier. He has played at the Los Angeles International Liszt Winners Concert (1998, 2000, 2016 Zoltán Rozsnyai Memorial Prize), American Liszt Society Festival, Pianofest in the Hamptons, Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Royal Festival Hall, and major game conventions in Leipzig and Brazil. Martin holds music degrees from CIM (Paul Schenly, Daniel Shapiro), Yale (Claude Frank), and USC (D.M.A., Stewart Gordon). Martin has also studied with Marilyn Shields, Scott McBride Smith, Myong-joo Lee, Ory Shihor, and Elena Ganjoula.
