“Phoenix was written very quickly in the summer of 2018. I had a private gig planned middle July and the guy asked me to do a lot of extra requests for this gig, so I was absolutely overwhelmed. Anselm was talking to him and he seemed to say yes to every new little request, and I was very busy. There were only 2 or so weeks left and Anselm came to me and said I should also write an “awesome epic song”. Just like that. Because there was also a photographer and he could make a video with beautiful landscapes and we needed a song. I was furious. But he refused to give up and tried to inspire me by playing me some Alice In Chains song backwards. And it worked. I was still furious but I wrote it. We shot the video but it was never finished, I only have some pictures of me dancing on the edge of the hill.” - Vika.
