Let's identify and examine the compositional techniques Koji Kondo uses in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Triforce Chamber to successfully enhance the gameplay and visuals! Koji Kondo composes "Triforce Chamber" to accompany the Triforce visuals. Link has just defeated Ganon and meets the Essence of the Triforce. Kondo uses through-composition when creating the opening arpeggio. The triforce pieces fly into the air with the arpeggio.
Next, Kondo alternates chords in root position to convey a sense of openness and peacefulness. Many centuries ago the use of the root and an open fifth elicited associations to pastoral settings. Kondo uses a similar technique. Perhaps due to the technological limitations, Kondo chose to use pastoral writing since a root and a fifth took up two voices. There would be one open voice remaining. Kondo uses a discant-like melody for the top voice.
The piece sounds similar to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Title Theme. In the Title Theme, there are F Major seventh and C Major seventh chords in alternation. An ocarina plays the melody. In a way, Kondo was ahead of his time when writing "Triforce Chamber." A peaceful music enhances the setting where the player is relieved at defeating Ganon, and Link is about restore peace and good to the land.
These are some compositional technique Kondo-san uses to the enhance the gameplay and visuals.
