This is my own arrangement/piano suite of music composed by the great Hans Zimmer to the amazing Interstellar movie. Everything in this performance was learnt by ear by listening to the original soundtrack.

The suite contains the following pieces in their respective order:

-Dreaming Of The Crash/S.T.A.Y
-Dust
-Day One
-Cornfield Chase
-Coward
-No Time For Caution

After No Time For Caution I bring back the Organ melody composed by Zimmer several times that is used throughout the score, the main motif of his score if you like. I end the suite by going back to the Dust piece I played near the start of the performance, with a cascade of rapid ascending then descending notes based on the Augmented 5th C major chord Zimmer uses in Dust to great effect. Its also important to note how popular/common this type of chord is in Science Fiction movies and other genres of music. Think X-Files main theme and you should know what I mean (that is A minor augmented 5th) if you play it on the piano/keyboard it gives a pleasing eerie/spooky/alien type sound 🙂

This was all recorded in one take live as with all my performances on youtube, everything you hear was recorded at the same time. This is the longest performance I have made to date on youtube being almost 13 minutes long. Yes I could have released different parts of the suite at different times thereby no doubt increasing my popularity with more smaller length easier to watch/listen segments, but this way just felt right. I have no doubt the length will put a certain percentage of viewers off as it were and perhaps will not listen all the way through (which I can understand), which would be a shame as almost every part of the performance I feel is of the same quality.

I love the movie and have watched it several times, I enjoy it a little more each viewing actually. The music composed for the movie is Zimmer at his most creative in my opinion, one of his best scores ever. The Organ used throughout is a stroke of genius, a simple melody created for the Organ that stays throughout the score. The start of Dreaming Of The Crash is also very similar to the Man Of Steel main theme that starts on piano.

I couldn't help but notice there is some similarity to Sunrise from Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra too. Namely the organ used and the crescendos that he uses which Zimmer uses, I play these twice in my performance, one near the start that leads to Dust, and one more time to end the piece.
