White Palace is one of my favorite tracks among the many excellent pieces of the Hollow Knight soundtrack. The Piano Collections arrangement by @MateriaCollective in particular manages to capture that profound melancholy teetering on the edge of despair so incredibly well. Emotionally it reminds me a lot of the Final Fantasy VII Main Theme, but stripped of the sprinkles of hope that temper the overwhelming sorrow that is ever present in White Palace. Some influences from Beethoven's 1st movement of his Moonlight Sonata are undeniable.

For me, the White Palace is a place where we lock away our grief, our shame, our deepest regrets. It's a place that allows us to cope and continue living our lives without being consumed by these burdens.
