I remember the first time hearing this as a teenager - it was a recording of the King's Singers and I just couldn't stop listening to it - it was gorgeous - the melody, the lyrics, the harmonies.

Why do I love this song? Because it's about sharing and vulnerability. One of my favorite lines in the song is this:

"So I will share this room with you
And you can have this heart to break"

Whenever we share our deepest and truest selves, we invite others to know and love us fully. If they embrace us, it is the most fulfilling kind of love. But if they reject us, we expose our most vulnerable parts to the deepest pain.

Music is one of these deep and vulnerable parts for me. Sharing it is like putting my heart into the hands of the listener, not knowing if it will be embraced or trampled on. But it is worth it because I believe it is better to be known and unloved then to be unknown and loved. My hope is that in my sharing a deeply personal part of myself, you will also be invited to share yourself more deeply with those you love.
