ABOUT THIS EXERCISE: It sounds a little crazy, doesn't it? Indeed it does, but it is very gratifying to learn and builds up special skills for the advanced pianist. One of my hobbies is inventing exercises of all kinds for piano and this is one I happened to come up with. The E-F above middle C is the midpoint of the piano keyboard, in that if you play outwards with each hand with the LH starting on E and the RH on F, you will arrive at the very bottom and top notes of the keyboard. I use this as the basis for many of my exercises, such as this one.
