Here's my piano cover of the first pokemon opening song: Gotta catch em all! This is probably one of the most well-known anime songs worldwide, and I am pretty sure, many people will recall all the awesome memories from their childhood upon hearing this timeless opening theme.

A few words about this video:
The piano sheet for "gotta catch em all" was actually made a long time ago (around 2012), but I never had the chance to record a video of it until today. This sheet was also included in my animenz sheet music book vol. 3, which were sold during my animenz live tour in summer 2015. Since the original sheet was TV-sized, the duration of this piece is only around 1 minute - and it's the shortest arrangement I've ever published. That's the reason why I decided to include an improvisation-medley at the end of the original 1- minute video.

I was a big fan of the first generation of the pokemon games - pokemon blue / red - and I can still remember all the hours I have spent on this game with my gameboy. This game essentially defined my childhood and that's the reason why I can still remember so vividly the game soundtrack - even after all these years. I still know, how to perform the missingno. glitch with the item duplication 128x, and I can still remember, how much of a bitch the rival trainer was - always showing up in the most inconvenient moments ever.

Most of the pieces in this soundtrack medley are improvised on the spot, and I was experimenting with some transitions between every piece. I deliberately kept the arrangement style simple and easy, to reflect the original style of music in the first pokemon games.
I started with the theme of Pallet Town, because that's where every journey begins and added more and more songs in the medley until it reached a length of almost 11 minutes.
Some of the tracks in the medley may not be exactly true to the original, because I improvised them entirely from my memory. It's been 15 years since I last played the first pokemon games after all.

Oh, and I wonder how many of you can identify all 9 pieces in this medley. The first one to give the correct answer will receive an official "senpai-has-noticed-you"-reply :DDDDDDD

Anyway, this is my pokemon special video and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Improvising the medley was a unique experiment, maybe I should record my improvisations more often in the future and upload them on youtube.

My next project is the Ending song of Oregairu Zoku (Season 2) - everyday world. See you next week!

And before you ask: my favorite pokemon is Dragonair (not dragonite), because it looks so cute. Yes, i am serious.

The part after "gotta catch you all" is entirely improvised, and therefore, there are no sheets.
