ABOUT THIS PIECE: This is the fourth song (piano + voice) from Schubert's last song cycle, Schwanengesang. The most famous arrangement of this song for piano is by Franz Liszt, which is very difficult. This arrangement/transcription by August Horn in the 1880s,, however, is true to Schubert's original and it is not overly difficult like Liszt's. This is the finest piano version of this song other than the Liszt version.
