Barlow & Bear - the Story of Bridgerton the Musical:

After binging the hugely popular Netflix series, Bridgerton, with the rest of the world and marveling at the masterful storytelling, Abigail Barlow knew it was a tale meant for the stage. She composed and posted the first verse and chorus of "Oceans Away" and "I Burn For You" on TikTok and was absolutely astonished at the response. She immediately reached out to her writing partner of a year and a half, Emily Bear, and they quickly finished those first 2 songs and began work on translating Bridgerton into a musical, prolifically composing, orchestrating and producing 15 original songs in 6 weeks, in real time, live on Instagram and sharing them on TikTok.

The viral worldwide response to their music inspired covers sung by singers both amateur and professional, and the reaction and attention from the world amazed and motivated the songwriters. Accolades and support from Netflix, leads from the Bridgerton series, Broadway stars and people from all across the music industry increased with the creation of each new song. Julia Quinn, author of the Bridgerton Series said, "I know all about the musical and that is just blowing my mind," she says. "I'll be sort of humming in the shower and realize I've been humming one of the Bridgerton the Musical songs." As if to prove it, she sings a bit of the Eloise song, "If I Were a Man." Composers Pasek and Paul (La La Land, Greatest Showman, Dear Evan Hansen), self proclaimed "bearlow fans" wrote, "What is this musical style? Oh wait, it doesn't exist, you're inventing it".

Barlow and Bear have broken the glass ceiling on how musicals become mainstream. Rarely do two creative force come together so well matched that they create magic. Barlow's pop experience, vocal agility and exceptional songwriting ability paired with Bear's prodigious skills in piano, orchestration, film composing, jazz and pop results in their impressive compositional quality and speed. Their ability to write ear-worm catchy melodies and marry todays pop sensibilities with classic musical theater, while adding in doses of cinematic and classical styling, has created a sound that can cross from Broadway to the pop charts.
